Pacific Warrior reminded me of Arjuna in the Bhagavad-Gita, or a modern day warrior fighting for existence in an uncertain world. His confident stance and expression tells you, he knows with God's help, he may win this battle. He will make a grand addition to your home or office especially during these difficult times. The spooky thing for me was his timing; I finished him just days before September 11 for an Open Studios Tour of my home. He has the first woven cloth face, hands and feet, a shift in direction for me.

 STORY

I chose the fabrics I enjoyed to bring out the wonderful iridescent hues of the  nautilus shell. Then I played with the three laser-cut shell pieces in various arrangements. 

At first I had seen them as wheels, possibly on a chariot or cart. As I arranged them in various poses with the figure, I found myself really enjoying the wonderful center swirl coming over the back of his head. I had designed this new male body, using 1/5 scale proportions and it seemed to want to kneel and pledge. I had recently re-read the Bhagavad-Gita, the story of the warrior Arjuna and I felt this warrior, a Pacific Warrior, would look upon life with compassion as well.
